Welcome screen not displaying properly

We are having the same issue with FrameMaker version 15.0.2.503.

What has happened previously with FrameMaker is that a third party have changed their software and it has caused a problem with FrameMaker. E.g. at one point FrameMaker refused to print documents to Adobe Acrobat. We had to go to other PDF programs until FrameMaker sorted out the problem. Fortunately, this time most of the features on the Welcome screen are available in the drop-down menus.

In the previous discussions on this subject it never seemed to have a solution. We must wait and see.

Somebody seems to have stumbled onto something that fixes the zoomed up screen size -
"I inadvertently held down the [Shift] key and used the mouse wheel to scroll down one click and the whole page rezoomed to it's original intended state... why? I don't know, but all the functionality returned... weird."

Yes, that works on my 15.0.7 as well.

I do have to repeat if ever the Welcome screen is redisplayed.

I'm not aware of any functionality associated with Shift+Scroll wheel...is it supposed to do anything? It seems not to have a function in Fm, Edge, IE.

Also odd: You can invoke the zoom by Shift+Scroll in the other direction.

But nothing happens when you Shift+Scroll in either direction on the Welcome screen in Fm 2020.

At least, not today. On my machine. 😉

Issue with welcome screen in FM2019 and FM2017 has been fixed from backend , No action needed from user .

If any of the older FM revs are reliant on MSIE (the Internet Explorer browser), expect further major problems this year, as MS is going to reach out and delete MSIE on everyone's machine during a Windows Update this summer.

Entry 6 was the last one used before the official fix.

Further testing show that the handling of paths containing a comma is no more correct.

Unfortunately my personal fix (outcommenting the marketing div in welcome.html) does not help in this case. I have no clue where the relevant function is located (in FM? in which JS?).

Further test

• maker.ini is open during work on the file Commands_10…15.fm
• When I save the file, [RecentlyVisitedFiles] is properly amended with the full path of this file
• As soon as I leave FM, this entry is replaced by the truncated one.

Renaming the folder to avoid the comma in the path shows that the Welcome Screen in FM-15 can not handle a document path containing a comma, such as the one after the word Equations:
