RoboHelp menu and capture in TCS 2?

Contributor ,
Mar 04, 2009 Mar 04, 2009
I have Tech Comm Suite 2 installed.

I have neither a RoboHelp nor a RoboCapture button or menu in FrameMaker. Should I have? If so, how do I get them to show?

Cheers,

Sean

Hi Sean,

I'm using the TCS 2 also, but all the links I see are from FM to RH (which sort of makes sense, since the assumption is that you're authoring in FM and then "publishing" to help using RH). So I wouldn't expect to see any RH buttons in FM.

What do the links from FM to RH look like? I don't have any.

Cheers,

Sean

Hi Sean,

I am using TCS. I have a couple of links to RH from with FM (that I have found so far). When I'm in an FM document-

1-under File, Launch RoboScreenCapture is listed in the menu
2-when I select a graphic in one of my FM files, under Graphics, I have Edit with RoboScreenCapture

HTH!

Adriana,

That is great. I missed those in the File menu -- was looking for menu items up top. That does help.

Anyone know how FrameMaker is connected to RoboHelp through the GUI? Or, are those links only in the RoboHelp application?

Cheers,

Sean

Hi Sean,

The links are in RH - when you create a new project in RH, you can link FM books and files to appear within the project. Once linked, the project icons show you whether or not the FM book/file has changed and needs to be updated. You can specify what & how FM paragraph and character formats will appear and how they look in the Project Settings of the project. You can also choose whether or not you import glossaries and indices from your FM books.

Hi Sean,

You will find some good tutorials here -

http://www.adobe.com/devnet/robohelp/

The "Adobe Technical Communication Suite: Getting Started series" is good- a bit long at times, but helpful regardless. Specifically, try "Part 3: FrameMaker 8 and RoboHelp 7: Natively reuse FrameMaker documents in RoboHelp" for info on integrating FM with RH.

HTH,
Adriana
