This is a really handy tool! I have already been using the grammar rules a lot.  I want to create a new client-specific terminology list, but for the life of me I can't find where the "sample" DB is so that I can duplicate it to copy over the file structure.  Does anyone know where this is stored?

Can I then just copy, paste, and rename the file to then go modify through the SDL Author Assistant?

Had to spend a good two days learning about Termbases and reverse engineering this.  Amazing a sample database wasn't included....

Anyway, I'm sure there is more than one way to do this, but this is what finally worked for me.  I start with an Excel file of this form,

English	English	Status F	Status P
incorrect term 1	correct term 1	Forbidden	Preferred
incorrect term 2	correct term 2	Forbidden	Preferred
incorrect term 3	correct term 3	Forbidden	Preferred
incorrect term 4	correct term 4	Forbidden	Preferred
incorrect term 5	correct term 5	Forbidden	Preferred

I then converted this to a Termbase using SDL MultiTerm 2007 Convert (which comes free with the download of MultiTerm).  These are the basic steps I did.

1.     Convert the Excel file to a Termbase using the method below, with the instructions below added,

2.     Assign the English 'column(s)' as index field(s) with 'English (United States) as the language. I think only one 'English' will show.

3.     Leave the 'Status F' and 'Status P' fields as descriptive fields.

4.     Assign the 'Status F' field's values (at the Term level) to English #1 (since I'm using English for both column headers MultiTerm Convert displays these columns as 'English #1' and 'English #2'), and assign the 'Status P' values (at the Term level) to English #2.

4.     Create the termbase in MultiTerm 2007, and populate using the files created by MultiTerm Convert (instructions for this also in the pdf in step 1).

5.     In SDL Author assistant, load the Termbase.

6.     Click the 'Index' button, and specify the language as English.

6.     Click the 'Field' button, and set the 'Forbidden' field name to 'Status F', and the 'Forbidden' value to 'Forbidden'.  Likewise, for the 'Preferred' field, set the 'Preferred' field name to 'Status P', and the 'Preferred' value to 'Preferred'.
