Structure View (Tag Toggle)

Community Beginner ,
Feb 24, 2025 Feb 24, 2025

Good afternoon,

In structure view, tags shown.  I want to be able to toggle all tags 'on' (or off), at once.

I think there is a keyboard short cut for this.

Thank you,
Vicki

If you mean expand or collapse all elements at once, press the Shift key and click one of the exand/collapse arrows.

Hi Vicki,

In the View menu there is "Element Boundaries (as Tags)". With this you can show/hide all tags. Is this what you mean?

Best regards, Winfried

Hi Winfried,
That is a handy trick too - in Body pages.
This question was about closing the tags in a structure view (panel).
I appreciate the time you took to respond - I just happen to know that one!
Regards,
Vicki

Vicki,

Since the purpose of the Structure View is to show the elements in the document and their relationship giving only a "snippet" of the text in each, I don't believe there is a way of removing display of the element tags. Nor can you control how much content is displayed in a snippet. There are a couple of View commands (see the View menu) that give you some display options for the Structure View:

  1. View > Show Text in Structure View gives you the option of seeing element bubbles without a snippet of the contained content, but that seems to be the opposite of what you want.
  2. View > Attribute Display Options gives you three ways to display attributes for those elements whose bubbles appear in the Structure view: all attributes (set or not), those attributes that have values, no attributes.
  3.  You can collapse and expand an element bubble, that is show or hide bubbles for its descendants, by clicking the arrow to the left of a bubble. If you hold the shift key when you click, the display option applies to for all siblings of the original elementg.
  4.  While View > Attribute Display Options sets the attribute display for all visible bubbles in the Structure View, you can also set the display for a single element by repeated clicking on the arrow on the right side of a bubble (there is no arrow if  no attributes are defined for the element). Holding the shift key while clicking on the right side of a bubble sets the attribute display for that element and all its siblings.
