Hello,

I have to create a table of contents of a book of 6 chapters. The table of contents has to be in chapter 2.

Now I open the book, go to add->table of contents.
Then I add the headers.
After that the following window appears:

Now I click update and this error message pops up:

What can I do? How can I create a table of contents of a book?

Thank you in advance.

p.s. I have already generated the table of contents of the single chapters and it works

Bye
Verena

If you open the chapters where the error is indicated and keep them open, you should be able to generate the table of contents. Thats a quick way around the problem.

But the files with cross-reference errors will probably prompt you every time you open them. I suggest you search for unresolved cross-references (its an option in the Find pull-down list) and fix them or remove them if they are no longer relevant.
