TC Suite 3 updating issues...

Not really a Framemaker issue, might not really even be a TC Suite issue but here it goes:

I'm trying to resolve a "Licensing for this product has expired" issue when opening Framemaker 10. I found this link:

Error: "Licensing for this product has expired" on startup

which says to download and install an update for TC3.

When I attempt to install the update it tells me that updates are being suppressed by my admin. I am the admin.

After Effects CC "Updates could not be applied, Updates have been suppressed by the administrator"

Says to delete the AdobeUpdaterAdminPrefs.dat but it is immediately recreated when I try to run the patch installer.

updates suppressed by administrator

Says that enterprise level license agreements might involve admins disabling updates manually; which we do (afaik) in the registry HKLM\Software\Policies\Adobe\Air\UpdateDisabled

Is there a way to patch the TC Suite (version 3) another way? Is there another place I should be looking to see if updates are being disabled somewhere else? Any help resolving\understanding this would be appreciated.

TIA.

Hi There,

Please go to :

  1. C:\Program Files (x86)\CommonFiles\Adobe\AAMUpdaterInventory\1.0
  2. Copy “AdobeUpdaterAdminPrefs.dat” file to your desktop.
  3. Open it on a notepad from your desktop.
  4. change the value in Suppressed tag to be 0 from 1. It should as below
  5. <?xml
        version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" ?>
  6. <Preferences>
  7. <Suppressed>0</Suppressed>
  8. </Preferences>
  9. Save it and replace it back with the original file.
  10. Try to run the patch again.

Mayank

That did it! with a twist: Editing it didn't immediately change the behavior but removing it from the folder entirely did. I put it back after the fact.

Before I kept finding the .dat in the users profiles which don't seem to contain this "Suppressed" value and as such wouldn't allow me to apply updates no matter what I did to them. Oddly the one in C:\Program Files (x86)\CommonFiles\Adobe\AAMUpdaterInventory\1.0 never showed up in a search.

Thanks a bunch!

Make sure you give yourself full control of your c:\ drive – it’s not automatic even if you are an admin on your machine
