Trouble using Aptos font in FrameMaker

Community Expert ,
Oct 08, 2025 Oct 08, 2025

I have a customer who has some dire issues with the font Aptos. FrameMaker is installed locally on C, but the documents reside on OneDrive. The font is installed in the Windows font directory, but for some reason it is not available for FrameMaker.  Any ideas what may be the issue here?

Hi Bjørn,

I guess that your customer can use Aptos in other applications.

You mention that the documents are on OneDrive. I would assume that this does not matter. Did your customer test, when he stores the files locally?

How did he install the Aptos font? Just by copying it into the Windows font folder? Or by right-clicking and selecting Install? (I do not know, if this makes a difference.) Does he has admin rights?

He installed the font here? c:\Windows\Fonts\

And he probably also removed the font and reinstalled it again.

I have the Aptos font installed, and it works well, also in FrameMaker.

Best regards, Winfried

I am not myself allowed to work with the customers pc, but the font has been installed using the normal method by downloading from Microsoft and clicking intall. I suspect the issue has to do with rights to administrate the fonts, but have not been able to get a confirmation on that. They have an IT department, taking care of this and having FrameMaker installed was also a bit of a struggle. I have very little experience with OneDrive and thought that perhaps there had to some sort of syncing between local drive resources and OneDrive...

In my experience OneDrive just behaves like another folder in which you can store files (FrameMaker files or graphics or whatever).

Therefore it should not matter.

However, I do not know, if the customer IT had configured it somehow differently.

Yes, possibly admin rights.

Do they use Windows 11?
