I'm using a text frame in the footer with content from that text frame being used to create a List Of Effective Pages.
I've run into a problem that in some files I am unable to set the cursor into the text box on pages after a certain point. I am using left and right master pages and the problem is affecting both the left and right pages.
I can type the information into the text box for many pages, 35 pages in one file and 85 pages in another but when I move the cursor to the next page, the text I type is placed in the text box on the previous left or right page.
Can any one give me any hints as to what the problem might be?
Thank you.

It seems like the connection between the text frames on the last pages is broken.
Check this:
On the page where you can not place the text cursor, use CTRL+click to select the text frame and check Grahpics > Object Properties: TextFrame : Is Autoconnect set?
If No:

Auto Connect isn't set.
When I try to connect the frames I get a message saying they are already connected

And is there a return ยถ at the end of the content on pages 34 and 84?

You say, that you have 35 or 85 pages - have you set Format > Page Layout > Pagination to Double Sided?
What Barb means, is there an end of flow mark on the last text-filled pages like this:
If so, then you can not just write into page (in this picture) 376. You need to write in front of the ยง mark and apply a paragraph format which includes "Start on next page" or so.
If you don't see these marks, activate View > Text Symbols.

If enough characters are typed into the last text box that can be selected the text will flow (overflow) to the associated text box on the next odd or even page.
