Question

Unresolved Cross Reference to Current?

In one of my projects, I keep on getting getting an Unresolved Cross Reference to chapter2 (actual file name)

There is no conditional text and no changes to master or reference pages in this document.

It is very graphic heavy and all graphics and hyperlinked cross-references in the document appear to alright.

When I go to Update Reference > Unresolved Cross Reference all I get for information is "Current," and I am not sure what to do to resolve this.

Thank you in advance for your help.

Obscure places to search for Unresolved Cross-References:

    • Conditional text presently switched off
    • invisible text currently invisible due to Color Views
    • to/from Master Page: View > Master Pages and search there
    • to/from Reference Page: View > Reference Pages and search there
    • TableTitle presently disabled
    • table cell presently not visible
    • text frame hidden behind graphic, or beyond clipping frame edge
    • inside a text inset imported from an external file
    • flowed out of sight in a text frame (if you've had a crash, there could be a huge swath of dislocated text in a callout frame or table cell, for example)

    Caution: not a comprehensive list

    Another one:

    • to/from a left Master Page presently hidden because the document is in single-sided mode

Why don't you try creating a List of Unresolved References (with hyperlinks enabled) to see what turns up?

When I compile the LOR log, the file is empty.

    No text in all colors

I have also removed the file and re-entered into the book with the same error, and created a new book with all the files I needed and still got the error.

The only unusual thing was FM crashed several times while I was creating this file, and it didn't while I was working on the the rest of the documents. I am left wondering if there is a residual link to the recover file????

Could be damaged - try MIF-washing it (save as MIF, examine in text editor, rename as .fm & re-open in FM)
