Unusual Pagination of Guide

Try setting the pagination to double-sided, and save, before you remove the text container from the Left Master -- if you do it the other way around, I think a new left page (with a container) would be created.

I removed the text frame and then changed the pagination to double-sided and it still places my guidebook text on the left page on top of the box graphic.
What other setting am I missing?

Is the left page going to contain the regular text flow in addition to having the Notes box? Or is it clear of the regular text flow.

If the former, Just pull the top of the existing text frame on the Left Master page down a few inches and draw a box graphic for the Notes.

If the latter, I'd delete the text frame on the Left Master entirely and just put in whatever head or graphic you want to use.
