I've seen this posted several times, but I've never seen an answer.  Does anybody have a fix for when using the ruler, paragraph designer freezes in FrameMaker 9 (including all patches up to p250)?  Many many thanks in advance if you can lead me out of this quagmire!

Rob,

Try to upgrade to 9.0p255: http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/product.jsp?product=22&platform=Windows

- Michael

PS: I have never moved tabs or indents using the ruler, it so … not precise enough

Thanks for the suggestion, Michael.  Alas, 'twas not helpful. I did upgrade to Frame 9.04 p255, and working with the ruler still freezes paragraph designer.  By the way, I find it interesting that you don't think the ruler is "precise enough."  It's just as precise as paragraph designer when you use snap, and it's infinitely faster when you're working with unstructured documents produced by others that use intentionally idiosyncratic exceptions to various paragraph tags.  Thanks again for trying to help!

Below is an older thread about the same issue. Just something you have to get used to I guess.

Thanks ls. If misery loves company, I guess we're in love. Yes, I've been getting used to the freezing for a couple of years, though today's the first time I reported it in a forum and to Adobe support. I'm sure your correct that we'll just have to live with it until we upgrade--and maybe after!

Best,

Rob

Hey Rob,

lolol...

Just thought you would like to know a little history of the issue.  Maybe they will fix it. I always use the ruler for formating...just much easier...lol
