separate table and figure numbering sequences

Question

I need some pointers and guideance on how to setup autonumbering for tables and figures separately.  As it is, the number sequence advances upon usage by a table or a figure.  For example,  Table 1,  Figure 2,  Figure 3, Table 4.    What I need in that case is  Table 1, Figure 1, Figure 2, Table 2.

Steve,The easisest way is to use what's called a series indicator for you autonumber sequence. This consists of a single letter at the star of the autonumber. Typically, one could use F: for figures and T: for tables. FM will then number these streams differently. Assign each a separate series in the autonumbering scheme. It can be any

alphanumeric, followed by a colon. For example, you might precede your

numbering scheme for tables with "T:" and figures with "F:". This will

cause each to be tracked separately.

Separate table and figure numbering can be confusing, though. You might
