Structured Framemaker 9 (Dita): Can I insert a URL or hypertext link in a variable?

I wanted to use a variable to insert a frequently typed customer support email address into my eclipse help topics. I want to save myself the trouble of having to link it each time.  I'm using Frame 9 Dita structure to edit XML source files. Is there way way to do this or get a similar shortcut, either in structured or unstructured Framemaker? Maybe variables is not the right place to do this.
