With the MAX 2020 release of Fresco, you now get a whole new brush set available in the toolbar which allows for a smooth and controlled blending of colors and shading in the artwork.

Smudge brushes (available in the Smudge tool) do not lay down color and instead uses shape and texture to blend and smudge colors on the canvas.

The following information will help you quickly come to speed with using Smudge brushes:

  • Available only on iPad, and Windows version of the Fresco app.
  • All Pixel Brushes (other than ribbon brushes, sketching brushes, and marker brushes) and library brushes appear in the smudge brushes menu.
  • Any brush added to the smudge brush menu will show up in the Pixel brush menu as well.
  • The hide/show feature available in the Pixel brush menu does not sync with the smudge brushes; so you might see all the brushes appear in the smudge brush menu even if you have hidden them from the pixel brushes.
  • You can also use smudge brushes to create patterns.

We would love to hear about your observations on using this brush. You are welcome to showcase your creations or seek clarifications on using this feature by replying to this post.
