I've been through dozens of threads on installation problems, tried the OOBE rename, running the install as Admin, the Cleaner Tool, disabling background Adobe processes, disabling Windows Firewall and AV, and nothing seems to work.
Win7 Pro 64-bit, default program directory is the D: drive, not C:. I've read about the reasons that supposedly require CC be installed on C:, which is ridiculous. I am not changing my default program directory to C:.
CC is totally botched, cannot find itself. It apparently installs to C: but (according to the desktop shortcut it created) when it runs it looks for files on D:, which aren't there. The Cleaner tool has the same problem, trying to wipe from D: when files are on C:. The Win Uninstall process doesn't uninstall anything. Everything either just silently aborts or crashes.
This is nuts. How do I get rid of this thing and get it cleanly installed so I can get the app I really want?
Here's the error from the Win Event log from the last attempt to uninstall:

Kt2656 it is not possible to customize the installation location of the Adobe Creative Cloud desktop application. Doing so will likely lead to unpredictable results such as those you are experiencing.
I would recommend utilizing the Creative Cloud desktop app uninstaller available at Creative Cloud Help | Uninstall the Creative Cloud desktop app. This will uninstall your current installation.
You can find details regarding the installation process at Download and install Adobe Creative Cloud apps. There are also details on how to customize the installation location of the Adobe Creative applications included with your membership. Please be aware you will need sufficient space on your C: drive to download the temp files need to perform the installation of the Adobe Creative applications.

Thank you for taking the time to respond, but you must have missed the part where I said it would not uninstall, and I had already tried the Cleaner and all the other suggestions found in other threads on this subject. I ended up going into the Windows registry to manually get rid of it. PITA.
Not that it matters now. I'm giving up on CC. I only wanted Fireworks anyway, and only because I lost the license key for my older version when I did PC upgrades last week. To my dismay, I discovered that it can be downloaded for a 30-day trial but can no longer be purchased. <rant>Adobe screwed me and many others over when they abandoned FW. Their "alternative" products don't do half the job FW did. It was the best web graphics editor out there.</rant>

Kt2656 I am sorry you are continuing to face difficulties utilizing your Adobe software. I recommended the use of the Adobe Creative Cloud desktop application uninstall tool in message #1 not the CC Cleaner Tool.
I would recommend contacting our support team for direct assistance at Contact Customer Care.

Again, thank you for taking the time to respond, but Fireworks is the only Adobe product that interests me so there isn't any point in contacting them now. As I mentioned, I already got rid of CC by manually editing the Windows registry. The files left in various folders on the hard drive were easily discoverable and deleted after that.
