Lauren196350 most of the information provided by John is accurate.  There are shared components, registry entries, and preferences which have to be stored on your primary drive.  You can how ever choose a custom install location for the majority of the Adobe Creative applications included with your membership.  This option is found within the preferences for the Creative Cloud Desktop application.  You can find more informatio

As far as I know... no... you must have a permanent drive because the install process puts information in the system registry, and that information must stay the same, which is not possible with an external drive that may be disconnected

Thank you I thought as much. External Hard drives are best for photos, documents etc. Thanks for responding this helped a lot.

Yes... but the question was about an external hard drive... which I took to mean a REMOVEABLE drive, which is a no-no since that will, at least for Windows, break the System Registry file when the drive is disconnected
