How do I get application manager to install products after a system restore removed them?

Explorer ,
Feb 10, 2013 Feb 10, 2013

I had some issues starting the computer and had to use system restore to get it runnng.

But that meant that all the applications I installed using creative cloud were gone.

When I started the Application Manger, It read that all the applications that I had installed were still installed.

I don't know how to reset anything to reinstall what I lost.   As you can see I says the installed programs are up to date. But they are not on the hard drive.

If anyone can help,   thank you very much.  Or I wait till they open tomorrow.      Barry

Hi Mylenium

i did a Forum search upon AAM issues and came here.

My system and all installed CS6 Applications are running smoothly, just AAM shows some odd behaviour

Most needed applications are installed, but under the "All" Tab, AAM shows "install" on the right, see my screenshot below.
Contrary to that what is seen on the screenshot up there from user "Bar".

Screen Shot 2013-02-11 at 16.35.13 .png
under "Updates" it shows all up to date (see screenshot below)

This way, I'm cannot be sure if AAM works correctly or not.

So i have followed your suggested advice and cleaned everythig up, downloaded and installed everything again, ugh!, but problem still persitis.

Usually it should show up which Applications are alredy installed, respectively are up to date and which application are still not installed.

Is there a known issue with AAM?

Thank you.

Hello Kaiserschnitt

I am not an expert like mylenium but I followed his advice and at first had trouble with the Application manager.

I downloaded and installed and ran the cleaner.

I restarted just in case.

I ran the Manager and it froze on me.  So I didn't even get to the screen.

I removed Application Manager  and installed it from the setup program I initially downloaded and kept.

This time it worked.   it asked to sign in and then All the programs showed Install.

I am currently downloading and installing Premiere Pro.  I will see what happens after that.

I know when you install it gives you the most up to date version, so initially there would be no updates.

As I understand it.  One has to install each application one at a time.  Did you notice that after installing something it said install beside it?

Until an expert gives you advice, perhaps you can remove Application Manager restart, then install it from the original setup file. Or download a new one.

I have been helped by Tech Support Chat.  That's another option.

Good luck

Barry

Thank you for your reply.

I also had the AAM in my downloads folder and did the same thing you were doing, just ironing the previous AAM Application itself -  WITHOUT DONWLOADING AND INSTALLING - the whole Suite again.

After doing so and firing AAM up, the only thing AAM did, was to start automatically downloading After Effects only, which was already installed!?

After donwload and installation of AE only, the AAM started to behave as it should. It shows AE installed and therefore "Up do date".

Anything else is now Marmaladed and I again start hating it.

Is the AAM installer for Creative Cloud different than the AAM Installer that comes for offline installation?

Why things at Adobe can't just work? I really don't unterstand that, remembering so many years of working with their products, from all issues installation still sucks most.

Sorry my tone and language, but the only thing I wanted was to purchase CS6, install it and start to work, but this is again just creating headaches and it makes me angry.

They will never manage it to make this right 😕

I'm going to get my money back now.

Kaiserschnitt I am sorry that you have faced several difficulties.  Yes for several of our software titles they now have later versions of the software available through the Adobe Application Manager.  If you have purchased the perpetual version of the Adobe Application Manager then you should be either installing from your installation media or the installer appropriate for the software title you have purchased.

You can install through the Adobe Application Manager, and then License the software with your Adobe ID and serial number, but the experience would be much better from the installer for the software title you have purchased.  Especially if you have purchased one of our suites.  You would actually have to initiate the download and install process for each of the software titles included with the Suite as opposed to just invoking the installer from the Suite installation files.

Hi Jeff,

I really appreciate your reply. Thank you.

It's a workaround, but it does not solve the actual problem people running into with installation issues in context Creative Cloud subscription.
Adobe is providing it's technology and i expect it to be extensively tested and working.
I am very picky regarding this topic, because I want to minimize troubleshooting and actually just do my work with the tools provided.

I hope Adobe is very aware of this problem and even tries to make a better user experience in the future.

I already arranged a return and will wait until Adobe has fixed several issues including support for the new generation iMac and its GTX 680 MX GPU.

Thank you.

I am glad my meagre knowledge eventually helped out.  And Mr. Wright seems to have given you the anwser.

But I understand Hate.  I hate the term Cloud.  But Creative cloud is excellent.  It gives me more software than I currently need.  But I might need later.

If you had time.  Since I seemed to have helped.  Could you mark my awnser as helpful.

On the right side in the middle of this dicsussion they mention getting points.

I want some points, maybe I'll win a T-Shirt.

Hate on

Hi Barry,

neither Myleniums nor your suggestion really solved the overall problem with AAM in context with Creative Cloud Technology. You have read what Jeff has wrote. I would not be fair to other users seeking for troubleshooting and marking this topic as fixed.
So, I have to wait until a proper fix is going around.
Sorry that I can't help you gettin a T-Shirt.

Thank you.

Hey Kaiser

No Problem, I was half kidding and don't participate in the forums enough to get enough of those stars anyway.    But Good for you for taking a stand.  Otherwise companies become complacent.

All  the best

I think  there should be a box to check labelled  "Tried to help but failed miserably"   The winner could be the equivelent of Miss. Congenialty in Beauty Pageants.

My spell checker doesn't work in these boxes.

I believe this ends this discussion.

Barry, you did your best to help, but it did not work as suggested bacause there are quirks inside the techology. So do not worry about it.
Until AAM and all other issues are not fixed, this thread should stay open. And these issues are Adobes duties.

Bye

But I see that it should stay  open.   And So it is.

Whatever problems that people have with the AAM,  Please come and discuss them here.
