I just deactivated and reinstalled CS4 onto a new computer. The majority of the fonts on the old computer did not install. Do I have to copy them individually from the old computer to the new or would it be better to deactivate the previous versions and install on new computer? Will there be issues with Windows 7?

Depends on the fonts we have included many of the same fonts with each copy of the Creative Suite. Is there a few fonts in particular you are concerned about?

Thank you for your response. I am in the middle of a project and 3 of the 4 fonts that I am using are not part of CS4. On the old computer I have CS 2 & 3. I noticed one time when I took CS3 off of a different computer and installed it on a separate computer that there were fonts missing. The ones in this project are Goudy Old Style, Monocorsiva and Copperplate Light. When I scanned the font list on CS4 it was not as populated as it had been on the old computer. Do I have to reinstall CS2&3 in order to have the full compliment of fonts?

Doing a search at http://www.adobe.com/type/ it does not appear that these fonts are current offerings from Adobe. In fact I could only find references to the Goudy and Copperplate font. But those specific versions don't appear to exist in the OpenType format it is possible there was a postscript version available but that would predate the original Creative Suite which has always included OpenType fonts. Monocorsiva does not appear to be an Adobe font.
Depending on the restrictions placed on your font you should still be able to copy and install the fonts to your new computer. You would just want to copy the Fonts from your Fonts control panel to a USB drive and then install on the new computer.

Ok. I will do that. I know that the only fonts I have are what came with CS2,3 or 4. Simply because I don’t know how to add fonts to my computer. J
Thank you for your help.

Your welcome Gayle. It is also possible other applications installed on your computer could have installed the fonts as well. Especially Monocorsiva as that does not appear to be produced by Adobe. I did a quick Google search and it appears it is produced by the Monotype Corporation - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Monotype_Corsiva.

1) If you have the access to the old computer then go to c:/windows/fonts folder , locate the font file and put them on the same location in the new computer,
2) there are variour third party website which provide fonts for free , you can google and find them.
for example :- fontzone.net/font-details/Monotype+Corsiva , as you require only 2-3 fonts to complete the project ,, it would be hard to find.
3) YOu can look for someone who still have cs2,cs3 present on there machine and follow the step 1 to have the fonts on your machine,

Thank you. I have both CS2&3 on the old computer so have access to the fonts. Since fonts have not been my strong suit, knowing how to get them from one computer to another is the puzzle. Thank you for the information. It just seems like they should have gone over with CS4. J

Gayle I would recommend posting your inquiry regarding Illustrator to the Illustrator forum http://forums.adobe.com/community/illustrator/illustrator_general. The users in that forum will be more familiar with troubleshooting steps specific to Illustrator.

Not sure that I’d use the word solved concerning the font situation but I will take the Illustrator question to the Illustrator forum. Do you know if there is a way to print out the list of fonts that does not entail an entire page per font? When I tried it yesterday that is what I got. Seems like it would be easier to compare the two computers with a hard copy of one listing.
Thank you,
Gayle

I dont think so , but you can go to he default font location and compare the font name.
However third party utility may be present but never used one hence cant suggest

In all of this business with the fonts I took my project to a different Windows 7 computer that has CS5 on it. I haven’t used the CS5 program much since loading it. When I saved the project Illustrator stopped responding during the save. Then came back and finished the save. This happened both times I saved the file. What do I need to do to fix this?
