I bought CS3 several years ago while in school, but had to drop out before I even opened the software. A few months ago I opened and installed the software and used Photoshop to complete a review project in preparation for my return to school. This morning when I tried to open Photoshop again I got a message saying the license didn't support the software anymore and I would need to check with my IT administrator or contact Adobe. I tried calling Adobe but the recorded message said CS was not phone supported. I know it took me a long time to get back to school, but it seems sad to waste the $1,000 I spent on the software. Is there a solution to this issue or do I need to buy new software? Thank you for your help if you have any suggestions.

Hobbesmac has there been any changes to your computer since the last time you opened Photoshop?  It is likely that the licensing files have become damaged which could lead to the error you are experiencing.  Any details you can provide would assist with providing the most expedient solution.

Thank you, Jeff. I cannot think of any changes to my computer since the last time I opened Photoshop. After I experienced the problem I dragged all the CS3 Adobe files to the trash and deleted them since I didn't think they would work any more. I thought the message indicated that the ability to use the software had expired with time, but I will re-install them and see if they will open correctly if you think there is a chance that will work.

Hobbesmac please also utilize the uninstaller for CS3 located in your Applications/Utilities/Adobe Installers folder.  Also since you dragged the applications to the trash I would recommend you also use the CC Cleaner Tool to ensure complete removal.  You can find details on how to download and use the CC Cleaner Tool at Use the CC Cleaner Tool to solve installation problems | CC, CS3-CS6 - http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/cs5-cleaner-tool-installation-problems.html.
