iPad as Custom Remote

Contributor ,

Hi all,

Wondering if folks have found a nice solution for using an iPad as a remote/custom shortcuts for Adobe products while working on a Mac (or even PC)? Surely it is possible, and developers have created such apps, but wondering if folks here have any experience to share. WOnder why Adobe doesn't create such an app for use with their products.

"looking for a nice solution for using an iPad as a remote/custom shortcuts for Adobe products while working on a Mac (or even PC)?"

Hi dancingbrook,

I'm not sure I understand your question or why an iPad would be beneficial to my desktop workflow.

Creative Cloud members have access to more than a dozen mobile apps and online services that work on iOS and Androids. There is also a new Photoshop app designed specifically for iPad.  You can review the list below.

I hope that helps.

Dancingbrook, if you are looking to use the desktop applications, then you can use Sidecar if you have macOS 10.15 or later.  It allows the iPad to work as a secondary touch-sensitive display.  You can find more information at https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT210380.

I haven't tried it myself, but it might allow you to use different elements of the Apps on the iPad.

Thanks for the replies; let me clarify:

1st, see this: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/numpad-keypad-for-mac/id1135300319

It allows an iPhone or iPad to be used as an additional input device, such as a numeric keypad (when you have a smaller keyboard or when using a laptop. It also allows for the creation of custom keys, which I'm hoping can be used for one-touch shortcuts, negating the need to remember the finger contortions needed for some shortcuts. Not sure yet if it will work as I haven't tried it yet, and I'm wondering if folks have any other suggestions, including even other hardware input devices. The iPhone/iPad is ideal because I already carry these with me.

Here is a dedicated hardware equivalent:

Note you can customize the keys. Looking for iOS apps that would provide an iPad/iPhone with similar capabilities.
