I have uninstalled the old program as prompted.
I got the new CC serial number and I downloaded the Adobe Creative Suite 3 Design Premium Installer and when I click on Setup I get the following message;
Adobe Creative Suite 3 Design Premium cannot be installed because it conflicts with:
- Adobe Creative Suite 3 Design Premium
I'm have a new computer, but the original program was retrieved from my old hard drive, and I was getting the message to reactivate, which I have been trying to do.
Thanks for your help.

I think you need to completely remove your original CS3 before you may install the special new version

Hi Checkp35964224,
As John has suggested please use the uninstaller for Adobe CS3 to uninstall the product completely 'Uninstall Adobe Creative Suite 3 and Adobe Creative Suite 3 products ', and then run the CC cleaner tool to make sure everything is removed 'Use the Creative Cloud Cleaner Tool to solve installation problems ', now install the new Adobe CS3 setup.
Let us know if this helps.

Okay thanks I did not know about the cleaner tool. This did fix the deinstall problem!
I have successfully de-installed and now installed, but now I am being asked to reactivate the program again and because it's the old CS3 there is no option to add the new serial number online.
Can you tell me where I can find this?

Great that you were able to reinstall the program, to resolve the activation issue please refer to this help document: Resolve "temporary activation expired" error for CS3 and Acrobat 8.

Yes, done that.
Done the cleaner and de-install twice now just to make sure.
Followed all instructions. Downloaded the special installer and got new serial number.
No luck.
Still getting to the temporary activation expired message and not being able to link or input any serial number.

Checkp35964224 just to confirm, have you also tried deleting the cache folder and then retrying?
