Laptop Configuration

New Here ,
Sep 03, 2018 Sep 03, 2018

I'm buying a new laptop for mostly heavy After Effects work, with a budget of around £1500-£1700 ($2000-$2200).

However I'm stuck on what specs and stuck between 3 contrasting options - can you please help!

1/ An Dell Precision or Lenovo P workstation laptop with a cheap Quadro graphics card (like a P2000), 16gb ram, and i7 6 core

2/ An XPS 15 9560, GTX 1050ti, 32gb ram, i7-8750H 6 core

3/ A gaming laptop with GTX1060, 16gb Ram, i5/i7 4 core.. However one with a touch screen

Any opinion on which of these options would be best will be brilliant, or if you have any other model ideas that will be great!

Thank you

1 or 2, I would prefer memory. You shouldn‘t go for an i5. That‘s a great office processor.

Hey, well in this case you can go for

  •   Acer Aspire V17 Nitro
  •   Lenovo Z70
  •   Asus ROG G752VL.
  •   Asus Transformer Book T200TA.
  •   Lenovo Flex 4 Convertible Touchscreen notebook.
  •   MSI Computer GE72 Apache Pro-029.

If you ask to me which to buy I will personally prefer CPU/Desktop but in case of laptop. I will go for MSI GE72

What about AMD processors?

Their new Ryzen series is great. As I am thinking myself to purchase the AMD ryzen 7 2700x.

See here for the i5 and i7 differences. Intel Core i5 vs. i7 - Which CPU Should You Buy?

I did currently not follow the AMD vs Intel battle, but I think that theAMD processors are competitive. As soon as I consider buying a new system, I would look up the differences.

LOL . Not a fan of AMD I was just pin pointing out their new processor. Even I don't like battle about two things instead of battling we should enjoy what they provide

I meant the Intel/AMD race for the best processor. Not a user battle for who has the best system. The processor is only part of that.
