I am trying to download my copy of lightroom 5 that I had purchased off amazon years ago onto a new laptop. When opening lightroom it keeps asking me for a serial number but all I have is a license key. What do I need to do in order to get a serial number?
you have 3 ways to recover a serial number that you once had:
1. if you purchased from or registered with adobe (automatically done with cs6):,
a. you can check your account, https://accounts.adobe.com
b. you can check with adobe support* (be prepared to give the email address used when registering purchasing)
2. if your adobe program is installed on another computer you can recover its serial number from that computer, (win:) http://www.belarc.com/free_download.html, (mac:) https://mac-product-key-finder.com/

Hello s2garcia ,
As you have the License key, it seems to be same.
Please note Serial number is a 24-digit numeric only code. If you have any 24-digit alpha-numeric code then it must be a redemption code/VIN number.
If you have Redemption Code/VIN number you can contact Adobe Support[Phone or Chat] to get the serial number of your product.
And it may be linked with your adobe account too, you can check as:
Login to adobe account [at: https://accounts.adobe.com/]>>Manage accounts>>Plans & Products>>View my products>>serial number
Thanks & Regards,
