Photoshop CS2, CS3, CS4 question

I want to buy a Photoshop CS2 or CS3 from ebay.  I am looking to buy from a good seller with good feedback, and from within the USA.

My question is:  If the Photoshop CS2 or CS3 has been used with a previous owner and i buy it.  To use the activation key it needs to be deactivated from previous owner? Will it work for my computer?

Also if i do get a CS3 version copy, can i use that activation/registration key to upgrade to CS4 for $199 from the Adobe website?

CS2 and CS3 no longer have activation keys, so what you buy on eBay will most likely be bootleg versions, and your will be throwing your money away. You can no longer upgrade to CS4 either on the Adobe website.

It is not a bootleg version, the guy has 100% feedback and there are photos of the box set and cd's and everything.  It looks slightly worn so this was a genuine copy im 99% sure.  just my question is, will it work if i put the cd in my computer and install?

so when the step comes to enter activation key, and i enter a previously used key, what happens? adobe just tells me its not needed anymore? or installation fails?

Why do you even want to mess with outdated software from 10-12 years ago?  Or worse, malware that could potentially harm your computer and put you at risk for ID theft?  IMO, buying software from auction sites is too risky and not worth having.

For a measly $10/month you can buy a Photography Plan direct from Adobe with the latest version of Photoshop Extended + Lightroom CC + Lightroom Classic CC + latest Camera Raw and other perks.  This software is fully supported and updated for as long as you remain a member.

As I mentioned, CS2 and CS3 activation servers have been shut down. The activation key sent with the CDs will not work. If they are legit copies, you will have to go to this website to try and get it to work:

CS4, CS5, CS6 are no longer sold. You can subscribe to current Photoshop (with upgrades included) from $10 per month. If you have a new computer or recent system you may well find that the old software doesn't run at all.

Also, ask yourself: how does this seller come by all of this product that gets them high ratings? Ebay is a minefield, and high ratings don't prove the sale was legit, or that it kept running.
