Since 1998 Updates Delete Presets

When is Adobe going to build a version that allows presets and customizations to carry forward to new versions?

Since I started using PS in 1998 things have gotten better but many presets still don't carry forward during an update. For example, custom crops get deleted with every update. This is the folder that needs to carry forward.

C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop (Beta)\Presets\Tools

Go one better and add custom crops for for all of the common social media image sizes.

Thanks for your wonderful answer Trevor. Hopefully Adobe can automate this process.

Have you checked the previous version presets and settings folders?

This is what I have for Photoshop 2023 in Windows 11.  All my presets and workspaces were there and could be moved or copied to 2024

It only goes back one version.  All I have for 2021 and 2022 are CT font cache.  I am not going to argue that it would be nice if that was all migrated automatically, and I have no idea why this does not happen.  Most of my plugins are migrated when updating, the exceptions being some rather old Flaming Pear and Redfield plugins, but they just needed the .8BF files moving.  What I do with those is let them live in a My Documents folder, and put a shortcut to that folder in the Photoshop plugins folder.
