When brush on the smate object, PS 2024 creates new layers on top of smart obj instead of ask if to rasterize layers. How to change it back? I don't need a new layer, I want to quicklly rasterize layers. Please advise.

I don't see that opion, I've read that it was a bug, the post was from 3 months ago, so it should be fixed allready, but it isn't

I just switched from CS6 - and this behaviour is insanely annoying - I hope it will be reverted to a "normal" behaviour, I´ve been unsing PS on and off since late nineties and this doesn´t fit at all

I cannot find any similarities between smarat object and GF layers.

GF layers are variations (like a group of layers, except concatenated into one layer), so should be called Generative Fill Variations.

I wouldn't say it's the worst idea. I can find worse ones! The problem is when these new "improvements" are added, they are enabled by default. Many users then don't want them, so waste time how to disable the improvments. The layer mask icons is another example.

IMV, what they should do is add the improvments--they probably did a survey and found enough people wanted the improvments to warrant wasting, I mean, using scarce resources--publicise them in a What's New section, and let user decide if it's for them or not and turn it on if it is what they've been dreaming of for years.

@Shangara Singh similar properties but it has it's own layer type.

Except the GF layer is NOT a smart object. LOL!

Right On Kevin! Looks like we're there... I don't see the option to go to 25.1 yet, but it works in BETA.

Yes, either use the beta or update to 25.1, where there is now a preference to switch this behavior on or off.
