Question

2-finger scroll issue in Illustrator CC 2017

Hi!

I'm working on Acer Swift 5 PC laptop. This is my recent purchase and I never worked in Illustrator without a mouse until very recently. That's where the issue was discovered.

When I'm trying to 2-finger scroll in Illustrator, it works fine in directions right and down, but it doesn't properly function when scrolling up and left. (It is impossible to clearly explain the behaviour, so here goes a small video that I recorded to show what's going on.)

The issue arises only in Illustrator, other Adobe and non-Adobe products work perfectly fine. All the software I use is updated to the most recent versions available.

I'll be happy to receive any feedback on how to have this fixed.

Best regards,

Ilya Petoushkoff

I am experiencing a similar problem. I am using windows 10, lenovo x1 carbon with AI CC 2018. Two finger scroll for horizontal and vertical plan is jittery. This problem happens only in Illustrator. Adobe Reader works without problem.

Hi Ozgur,

As mentioned above, I would request you to upvote the issue here: Precision touchpad scroll jittering – Adobe Illustrator Feedback

This is the best way of communicating with the Engineering and Product Management teams regarding issues and suggestions so they can be implemented in future releases.

Here is another thread with some information that may give some insight to anyone experiencing this issue:

Adobe Illustrator CC/Windows 10, unable to horizontally scroll

Thank you Melissa, although I think it's not the same issue, I couldn't find any insight there.

I've tried recording a video of the screen, while attempting scrolling in all directions at different speeds.

maybe this can provide more insight to the issue.

jittery touchpad scrolling - YouTube

from what I can tell:

* when scrolling ''fast'' , meaning moving the fingers across the touchpad quickly > the issue doesn't occur.

But, when trying to scroll only ''once'' , or very slowy, the issue happens - as you can see, its very jittery and often moves in the ''wrong'' direction unintended.

meaning that you can't scroll just a little, you have to scroll a few steps each time for it to work.

* When scrolling to directions LEFT and DOWN > the issue doesn't occur.

But when scroll to directions UP and RIGHT > the issue does occur.

some key frames for the video above...

seconds 9 to 14 > scroll down works fine.

seconds 15 to 24 > scrolling up is jittering at slow speed. at faster speed works fine.

second 38 to 40 > scrolling left works fine.

second 40 to 44 > scroll right at slow speed is jittery, at faster speed works fine.

Yotam.

Hello,

I experiencing the exact same issue, using the touchpad scroll with 2 fingers.

It happens only in Illustrator. the scrolling to the left and down side works well, and scrolling to the right and up is jittery, exactly as described by Ilya.

I am using a brand new Asus UX461UN . Im trying to attach an html file with info from CPUZ report but forum option is limited to photo/video attachement only...I'm happy to provide any further information that could help resolve this issue.

Illustrator version: 22.1

waiting for an update on this matter.

Best regards,

Yotam Levi.

I see a similar issue has an open bug ticket via the IL feedback hub.

It was opened about 4 months back, I've added a vote on it. - Precision touchpad scroll jittering – Adobe Illustrator Feedback

Is there anything more we can do about it / raise it's priority ?

regards, Yotam.

Hi Ilya,

Thanks for the details. We were not able to reproduce this issue at our end. Would you mind disabling the GPU in the Preferences and then try the scrolling? Do share your findings.

Regards,

Om

Dear Om,

it's been a while since I heard from you. Please let me know as to the developments.

In the meantime, the issue has suddenly appeared also in the InDesign. Still no problem anywhere else though.

Best regards,

Ilya
