3-D pie chart to print in two colors only

hi there, is it possible create two color art (black+spot) as a 3d pie chart. It needs to be placed in InDesign as a 2 color piece of art. Illustrator wants to convert the spot color to process. Many thanks for any assistance.

You need to Object>Expand Appearance 3D Chart

Apply spot-color, and place into InDesign

Duplicated your efforts and had no issue. 

Show snapshot when Illustrator wants to convert the spot color to process.

Also what exactly you are doing step by step and when does that warning appear?

I'm in AI 2020. When placing the file in InDesign, the spot color doesn't place. Thanks for your assistance.
