3d effects not working for Freeform Gradient

Hello! I am attempting to apply a 3D extrude effect on an object that has a Freeform Gradient. However, it appears that this effect only works on objects with Linear and Radial gradients, and not with Freeform gradients.

Is this a known issue, or is there a workaround available that anyone is aware of?

Thank you in advance for your help!

You need to objects. A creangle that has the freeform gradient applied. Make that into a symbol.

Then a rectangle that has just a white fill (or any other color: extrude that.

Then apply the gradient symbol as artwork to it.

Thank you for your reply!

Just to clarify, are you suggesting that by creating the gradient as a symbol, I can then use it to apply the gradient to my 3D extruded object? If that's the case, could you please explain how I can go about "applying the gradient symbol as artwork to it"?

Thank you so much!
