Good Morning,

I am trying to make a coloured sphere in Illustrator CS6.  I make a pink circle, cut it in half and use the drop down menu to create a sphere, as

soon as I am in that menu the preview image circle turns black, it make a perfect sphere but I loose the colour.  Can anyone help please?

Thank you.

As a general rule, avoid having strokes on paths used as bases for 3D Effect. When a stroke is extruded or revolved, not just the stroke, but all of its sides are extruded or revolved as separate surfaces, as if you had outlined the stroke.
