Accents in Illustrator

i'm using Illustrator and I need to type in Portuguese/Spanish so i need to use accents like áàê

Everywhere else on Mac OS if I long press the key I get an accent pop up, like this:

In adobe products, this never shows up.

Am i missing something here or does Adobe products don't let this native pop up show up?

Thanks for all the replies, all these workarounds are options, but neither is ideal - the accent pop up still feels like the easiest and fastest one (at least for me).

I was just using Adobe XD the other day and there the accent pop up shows up fine.

I'll just open an Illustrator feature request ticket.

Go to Window > Type > Glyphs to open the Glyphs panel. If additional characters with accents are available in the font you have selected, it will show up there. If you select a character in your text that has alternate glyphs, it should show up in a box below your selection.
