Illustrator 29.6 added a new option in the Smart Guides section of the application preferences. It's called "Align to Last Position".
I tried to find out what that option is supposed to do, but so far I couldn't spot it. Also, currently it's not mentioned in the Illustrator User Guide.
What is the purpose of it?
It snaps the object to a corner of the position of the location before it was moved.

Thanks, Ton.
Does that work smooth and reliably for you in a real-world document with many objects interacting with (other) smart guides?

I have not tested it with many objects, but I suspect that it will add to the flashy disco experience.

It's indeed rather hard to distinguish it from other intersection hints when many (or all) Smart Guides options are turned on.
Nonetheless, thanks for chiming in. I should have tested it with a simple file.

And also to top, bottom and left, right position.
