Hello,
I just updated my CC software to the 2017 versions. Before this, I have been having problems with high cpu usage due to Adobe CEP HTML Engine running in the background. I tried the Adobe fix here: High CPU usage due to CEPHtmlEngine , but it only helped temporarily. I thought the update would fix this issue.
Since I've updated, the programs are running slower than they were before. With Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign open, there are at least 10 to 15 instances of Adobe CEP HTML engine running in the background seen in task manager. This has only been a problem within the last couple of months. Is there any fix for this?
Thank you.

Does "adobe CEP HTML Engine" have to be running in the background? I have the same problem and wondering if "end task" would make it so I can't use Photoshop and Muse and Bridge and the such?

Hi kcelsi1999,
CEP HTML Engine running in task manger is common thing, these are the background processes running for Illustrator however its CPU usage should not be high.
If there is High CPU usage because of CEP HTML Engine then its a problem.
And for performance issue please reset preferences for Illustrator for details click here How to set preferences in Illustrator
If the CPU usage is high please share the screen shot of task manager.
Regards
Srishti
