Hello @Alicia5FF7,
I'm sorry to hear that you're experiencing issues with Adobe Illustrator 2023. Frequent crashes can indeed be frustrating, especially when you have work to complete. Let's try to resolve this issue so you can get back to your project.
First, I recommend updating Adobe Illustrator to the latest version, which is version 27.9 (released today).
If you continue to experience crashes after updating, would you mind confirming if you get any errors before the crash? Try to take note of any specific actions just before the crash. This information can be helpful in diagnosing the problem.
If you receive a crash report dialog after a crash, be sure to send it to us using the email address you used to log in to the community and let us know once done for quick tracking. Steps are shared here: (https://helpx.adobe.com/illustrator/kb/crash-next-steps.html). These reports contain valuable information that can assist Adobe's support team in identifying the cause of the crash.
I hope this helps resolve the issue so you can continue your project without interruption. If you have any more details or questions about the problem, please feel free to share, and I'll do my best to assist you further.
Best,
Anshul Saini

Hello @Anshul_Saini , thank you for your response.
I have the most updated verson of adobe illustrator installed. I am still experiencing the crashes.
It crashes right as the first window that loads the main window.
Here is a snip shot of what happens when I click on the window that loads the software:
It turns black and freezes, when this happens I use task manager to force close it.
I have not seen a crash report dialog after a crash screen as yet.

Thank you for sharing more details, @Alicia5FF7. It appears to be a crash on startup. Would you mind resetting preferences and see if that helps? If it doesn't, please try the steps suggested in this help article (https://helpx.adobe.com/illustrator/kb/fix-crash-on-launch-issues.html).
If the problem persists after trying these steps, please provide any additional information that might help pinpoint the issue. For example, did this problem start after a specific installation of other software like antivirus or Windows update? Any additional context can be helpful in finding a solution.
Best regards,
Anshul Saini

Man, I remember the days when you'd load up an app and whossh it worked right out of the gate.. no fiddling around or having to delete permissions. Maybe instead of having Artifical Intelligence designing stuff they have AI features that adjust what needs adjusting so I can carry on with my work.

Really? I don't.
Some things worked, some didn't. Just like today.
And about the permissions - that is your system, not the app.

Been using variation of this software for over 20 years. Don't recall having to jump through quite so many hoops just to have it work. I ditch the permissions with every update and still have issues with most of the newer Illustrator versions.
I've run the gamut on cleaning uninstalling reinstalling etc etc.
I guess I need a degree in developing to understand half the inner workings so I can get work done.
I'm using 2022 ver 26.0 for work because that one works the best.

I've been using it for about that time. Been using other DTP apps for even longer. The last time I really had issues with installing Adobe software was back in CS2 time. I had several user accounts on my computer because of that. Since then: no issues.
Maybe your computer needs some serious cleaning. ANd it also helps not installing the latest Mac OS whenever it's available.
