Adobe Illustrator Artboard Numbering Issue: Duplicate and Missing Numbers

Hello Adobe Community,

I have encountered a strange issue with Adobe Illustrator when generating multiple artboards, and I wanted to share it here to see if others have experienced the same problem and if there is a known solution.

When creating artboards within Illustrator, I noticed that the program assigns the number 6 twice, while completely skipping 5 in the internal numbering. As I continue adding artboards, the issue persists—when reaching 12, Illustrator does not generate it and instead creates two instances of 13. This pattern continues inconsistently across multiple artboards.

Has anyone else encountered this issue? Is this a known bug, or is there a workaround to ensure proper sequential numbering?

I tried replicating this on my end but could not. Would you mind sharing the exact steps when you get this error message, the version of the OS, and a small screen recording of the workflow, so I can check this with the team?
