Adobe Illustrator: How to type the Unicode ↹ symbol instead of creating a Tab?

Working in Illustrator to create a keyboard mockup, I am attempting to use the ↹ symbol, but the software just creates a tab instead (I mean, yeah, it's a symbol used to represent a Tab, but if I wanted to input a tab, I'd just do that). How do I get it to use the symbol?

I've tried using the glyphs panel, pasting from other software, typing alt (hold) "+21B9" (release), tested it with different fonts, checked my Type Preferences, then scoured the Character, Paragraph, and OpenType panels for potential solutions.
