Question

Adobe Illustrator menus and toolbars randomly stop working on macbook pro

I changed my computer to a MacBook Pro M3, running Sonoma 14.3.1. All software is up to date.

Adobe Illustrator is not working properly; the toolbar decides to stop working out of nowhere, as does the top menu. If I minimize the screen and start using it again, there's a 50/50 chance it will stop working. I use a Wacom Intuos Pro; I thought that might be the culprit, but no, same issues without it. I'm losing so much time just trying to make it work again... please help.

Has this always been this way since changing your computer? have you tried resetting your Illustrator prefs?

Did you update your Wacom driver?  Do you have any virus protection software that might be conflicting? Maybe your OOBE is corrupt.

OOBE RESET MAC

  1. Quit the Creative Cloud desktop app  (100% you must do this)
  2. The \Users\<user folder>\Library\ is hidden by default for macOS 10.7 and above. Option click on the GO in the mac finder to reveal the Library folder.
  3. /Users/<user folder>/Library/Application Support/Adobe/OOBE
  4. Delete all the files within the OOBE folder, but do not delete the folder itself.

Try booting in safe mode, then go back to normal mode. It does some repairs in safe mode that fixed issues like this in the past.

Hello @Renderlines,

We understand that encountering technical issues can be frustrating. Would you mind trying to run Illustrator under a different administrator account (Windows / macOS) and checking if it helps? Also, try manually removing and reinstalling the Wacom drivers (https://adobe.ly/3uux4sp) and sharing your observations.

If the problem persists, kindly share more details, like the exact version of the Illustrator and a screen recording of the problem (https://adobe.ly/3UJNRSK), so we can investigate this further.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Thanks,

Anubhav
