Adobe Illustrator unknown format and cannot be opened

Why is this being more frequent with my files that JUST opened 2 minutes ago?!

How can we trust that our logos and client work isn't gonna be lost because of this?

This is ridiculous!

I save it on an external. Have for years with no problem.

There's other graphic files, photos, etc.

It's illustrator files, .psd, .jpg, etc.

External drives can be a general issue AND this is clearly documented: https://helpx.adobe.com/be_en/illustrator/kb/illustrator-support-networks-removable-media.html

That said: Have you tried first copying the files to your internal disk and then opening it in Illustrator.

Also: in the Preferences > File handling it's a good idea to turn off "Save in background". It has a tendency to make saving worse.

I'm running a Mac Studio

Auto update for Illustrator so it's the latest version.
I went back to all the previous versions. Still no luck.
I was literally using these files, updated, doesn't work.
Went back to previous versions, still can't.

I already lost clients past work and it just seems like it's just random Files that's start to not work.

Where did you save those files?

What's in them?

What kind of file format are they?

Sorry man. Was just frustrated.

Random files that work one minute, then not the next is definitely scary. I have a lot of client artwork and already loss some.

im running a mac studio, auto update on creative cloud. Turned off auto update, tried previous versions. Still no luck.
