AI CC 2018 Documentation? Templates?

I need a pdf!

Adobe's online searchable "help" is a real mess in my experience. I search for a specific answer for AI CC 2018, and I get "answers" for other apps! This is NO help. Adobe needs to take a clue from Google on search, as in "confine searches to the SEARCH CRITERIA."

One specific question I have for AI CC 2018 that I have NOT been able to find online is this: What happened to TEMPLATES?  They have been updated all along until CC 2018. I need guidance, as our workflow depends heavily on templates.

I did a search for ".ait" in the AI CC 2018 applications directory, and found NOTHING. Yet the open dialog does have an option for "New from Template." This takes the user to the AI CC 2018 application directory, but there are NO TEMPLATES.

Since AI CC 2018 cannot seem to faithfully open any previous templates from CC 2017 -- They come in with the wrong layer colors, -- my next move is to RECREATE ALL OUR FORMER TEMPLATES. Hopefully this will work if we just save all-new .ait's in the app directory ... I'll let you know if this works.

If there is any intelligence on this subject, could someone please point me to the documentation that explains the lack of templates in this latest release?

There are only Blank templates in the app Cool Extras > Your Language > Templates > Blank Templates directory.

You have to copy your custom templates to the Templates directory.

I cannot reproduce your problem with the layer colors changing from CC 2017  in CC 2018.

In believe that since CC the only templates that ship with the program are the Blank templates.

There are not even "blank" templates. NO templates at all.

Other things that don't work well: When creating all new templates (which should NOT be necessary), the art-board no longer snaps to any bounding box path. This requires the user to input the exact desired size of the template in the art-board dialog.

Strange that even the Blank templates are missing. Maybe it is a Windows thing (I use Mac).

Regarding your snapping problem, you can select an object and choose Object > Artboards > Fit to Selected Art.
