ai files not opening properly in illustrator

Hi there,


My illustrator is the version 2019 , I've attached a screenshot.

There is no error warning, sometimes it pops up with some data maybe missing.

First step is that I try to open the ai file in illustrator and this particular file is converted straight away in a pdf even though it is orginally a ai file.

They are work files and my colleague has been working on them on a different laptop which probably has different version of illustrator.

Let me know if this makes sense.

is there anyone i could talk to online?

Can you please tell us your version and system and the exact steps?

Also: is there an error warning?

And what makes you think that it gets converted to a PDF?

Did you make the files?

Have they been created on the same version?
