Question

AI gets stuck on Navigator (zooms around screen)

Not sure if this is a bug or if I am just doing something wrong, I usually use PS so pretty new to AI.

But, pretty frequently, when I move around the artboard the cursor disappears and moving the mouse quickly moves around the canvas.

I've tried hitting 'escape', 'enter', left/right clicking, alt+ctrl+delete, minimizing AI and it stays stuck for a good five minutes before releasing. I know it is not my computer lagging, I'm currently using an Alienware Aurora Ryzen 7 and have no issues running 3d modeling software and much larger applications.

It's very frustrating and a time waster. Has anyone had luck with this?

***Update:

This time it has been stuck for a long while. It happens after clicking the side scroll bar. I tried reclicking/double clicking the scroll bar again and it doesn't work. I've tried with 2 different mice, and a tablet- still no luck. While it is doing this, I cannot click any buttons, save, or anything other than scroll up and down.

Please tell us about your hardware.

What's in the file?

How large is the file?

16 GB of memory is at the low end for Illustrator. Can you try without the Huion tablet?

The placed image - how large is that? dimensions and resolution.

Hello @IDGAFdhjbfhabsdh,

We understand how frustrating it can be to experience performance issues while working in Illustrator. I hope the suggestions shared by Monika helped resolve the problem. If not, kindly try the suggestions shared in this help article (https://helpx.adobe.com/illustrator/kb/optimize-illustrator-performance.html) and perform a clean reinstallation of the GPU drivers (Intel / NVIDIA / AMD) and set the Graphics Preference to High-Performance for Illustrator (https://www.amd.com/en/support/kb/faq/gpu-110) to check if it helps?

Also, try reinstalling the Huion Tablet drivers and enabling/disabling Windows Ink in the tablet settings, and share your observations.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Thanks,

Anubhav
