AI slows down Computer (Windows) since AI 24.0.2

Hey,

I'm working with Adobe Illustrator on this PC since July 2019 (I bought the PC at this date).

Everything was smooth and super fast. There was no problem at all.

Since Tuesday (21th January 2020) something changed (this is the date where I recognised it because I wasn't working with AI the days before).

The programm itself was super slow, laggy and I wasn't able to work properly. The mouse reaction, click rate and delay was annoying. I recognised as well that there was a delay with keyboard actions.

But this is not all: My whole PC seems to slow down extremely. As well music became laggy (Youtube) and saving files takes much more time than before. Other programs and actions became laggy and slow as well. After some trial and errors I found out that everything slows down whenever I start AI or the programm is just open in background.

My PC is used to deal with several big programms like PS, AI, Unity, Firefox and Chrome at the same time. There was no problem... since now.

I tried to download an older version of AI (23.1) but all my files are made with 24.0. and its hard to switch programs that easily.

Does anyone have the same problem? Is there any kind of solution?

Adobe Support just gave me this link, but it doesn't work for me, because I think the version itself (update) is buggy: https://helpx.adobe.com/de/illustrator/kb/optimize-illustrator-performance-windows.html#sa_src=web-messaging

Hi Simon,

 

So sorry to hear about this. I would request if you can share a few more details like:

  • Operating system you are working on?
  • Are there any recent changes made to your system? For example, any antivirus, system updates or web extensions installed recently.
  • Does older versions work fine?
  • Where the files are saved (Network Drive/ System HDD/ Shared Folder on System /External HDD)?
  • Is the issue related to a specific document? If yes, could you please share the document with us? You can upload it to the creative cloud and share the download link.

 

All this information will help us understand the issue better and help accordingly.

Hey Srishti,

Thank you for your answer.

I feel a little bit awkward, because I already solved the problem.
It was the "Avira" antiviros software which broke my PC at least. For sure it was most obvious in combination with AI, but I know as well that AI don't break the whole system. So I searched for other software which I installed at this time.

I deinstalled Avira and everything is working fast and fine again as before.

I'm sorry that I suspected AI, but as I mentioned it before it was the worst when I started AI.
