Not quite sure what your video is going to demonstrate, but apparently you are just clicking on an icon that is a setting and not an executing button.
In case I misunderstand it, can you clarify what your complaint is about?

Upon reviewing my steps I was wrong. Sorry for the inconvience. Thank you for pointing out.
1. Select the objects
2. click on the key object
3. click an align button (top, left, etc.)
