Align objects

Hi,

I am a working on a notepad design and need to align the writing / horizontal lines to the left hand side of the coloured background. the issue is that it aligns to the far left of the object as if it was a rectangle, and not to the slanted left hand edge.

Not really an "alignment" task, per se. More of a trim operation:

Select all the lines
Choose Object > Arrange > Send to Back
Choose Select > All
Choose the Shape Builder tool
Hold down Alt/Opt and drag across the portions of the lines that are still visible to the left the colored background
Deselect
Select the colored backgound and choose Object > Arrange > Send to Back
