Arabic type for mac 2022

AXT fonts or Arabic Extension were created for QuarkXpress application back in the 1980s, they are the worse fonts anyone would acquire, they're not proper Arabic fonts, they're drawn on a Latin font table, so when you output to PDF, the PDF is not searchable.

Having said that, since the AXT fonts are "bastards" I mean they have no owner, they were spread around, this old fonts are no longer supported on Adobe applications. so as @Mylenium mentioned, you need to acquire proper Arabic fonts in OpenType technology, there are few reputable vendors out there, just search… they're not free though.

If they are proper OpenType fonts with all the glyphs this doesn't matter and AI doesn't care. It works the same on Windows and Mac. Whatever issues you have therefore likely have nothing to do with AI itself, but rather some external thing liek using a different language and keyboard setting or not using the right font types.
