Art brush not working

Hi all, I tried to create an art brush in illustrator, and whenever I try to draw in any sort of shape or curved line it just turns into this straight line at the same length. I've been able to use this feature before to create art brushes for my paintbrush. I have never run into this problem though.

I am also on a timeline and would really appreciate your responses as quickly as possible.

Can you share the problematic brush library? I tried a brush with your settings and had no issue.

Please upload a file in which this brush is applied. Maybe there's an effect working on top?
