Artboard snap to grid does not work as expected

Hi,

I do not have any different snap mode on than snap to grid. I think what's going on is Illustrator thinks that after turning the STG on, when the artboard isn't perfectly aligned to the grid, the grid "starts" when the dragged anchor point is. This is, of course, absurd because the grid is visible and I do expect the artboard to snap to it.
Any ideas?

The issue seems to be fixed in the Beta build, where a huge WIP is being made with snapping.

This is how it behaves there:

  1. Disable STG
  2. Resize artboard so it’s not aligned to grid
  3. Enable STG
  4. Resize artboard again — it gets snapped just fine

@ALMCraft There's no "setting" to change this behavior; it's just how Illustrator's snapping mechanism sometimes misinterprets the relationship between an unaligned artboard and the underlying grid. This often forces users to either meticulously align their artboard to the global grid before engaging "Snap to Grid" for objects, or to abandon "Snap to Grid" for those specific alignment tasks and rely on Smart Guides or manual entry.

You could 'try' to re-align your artboard to the grid's origin (0,0 point). To do this, select the Artboard Tool (Shift+O), then in the Properties panel or Control panel at the top, manually enter 0 for both the X and Y coordinates of your artboard's position. This ensures the top-left corner of your artboard perfectly aligns with the global grid's origin. Additionally, ensure that "Align to Pixel Grid" is unchecked for new and existing objects (in the Transform panel and Preferences > General), as this setting can sometimes interfere with true grid snapping, even when working with vector content. If the issue persists, a full reset of Illustrator's preferences can sometimes resolve deeper corruption that might be affecting snapping behavior.
