Artboard snapping - fixed or not?

Hi all,

As has been documented in the past, if the location of an artboard has a pixel fraction in the X or Y coordinates an extra pixel will be added on export (i.e. if a 512 x 512 artboard is in location X -4305.93677 and Y -2127.7089 it will export as 513 x 513; whereas if the location is X -4305 and Y -2127 it will export as expected 512 x 512). Therefore it is useful to be able to snap artboards to pixels when creating and moving them.

Yet there seems to be a discussion on this thread that suggests the issue remains, and I cannot seem to find any combination of snapping settings (e.g. the options in the view menu of snap to point, snap to pixel, snap to grid etc.) that means that resizing and moving an artboard always results in a whole number for the X and Y location.

My questions therefore are:
1/ If this issue has been resolved, what are the settings that mean that resizing and moving an artboard always results in a whole number for the X and Y location; or
2/ If this is still not possible how can a bug report be re-opened?

how about using a script to just automatically reposition the artboard such that the x,y coordinates are round numbers. then, depending on how far you needed to move the artboard, you could repeat the transformation for all artwork on the artboard too.

Sure that would be great, at least until the bug is fixed. Do you have code you could share do to that?

In this post you will find a script by Femke that snaps the artboards. Unfortunately it does not move the artwork to the new position.

Unfortunately, this issue is actually over a decade old, with weekly forum questions going all the way back to the beginning of 2013 and beyond on a near weekly basis - to which if it were reported weekly, it would mean that it's been posted around 520 times and if it were a person, it'd be in grade 5 by now. They are aware of it, and simply don't want ot fix this. 

However, there are a few fixes for you that you can try:
1) Turn on Snap to Pixel by going to View > Snap to Pixel - this will force either whole number values or half number values, but will help you most (but not all) of the time. Avoid writing odd pixel values in the Transform tab, it will add a row anyway.
 

2) Check the Align art to Pixel Grid option.

Test these and see if it fixes the problem for you. If this doesn't work - you're fresh out of luck.
