Artboard tool question

When you have the artboard tool selected and click on a piece of vector art, it creates an artboard to the size of the vector. Is there a way to have it do that but automatically add set amount of space around it?

I don't really know how to sript, I copied the script into Script Editor and I keep getting an error .

Depends what you mean by "space" - you can set a bleed...

yeah, a bleed. How do I do that by default?

Go to File > Document setup.

Or set up the bleed when creating the document.
