Artistic Ink Brushes

Hi all

I am using artistic ink brushes to stylize my linework. As you know they stretch themselves along the entire stroke, and since my illustrations have a lot of squares (buildings) they look a little wonky. So far Ive been cutting and pasting sections of paths to randomize it a little bit and make them look a little more natural.

Anyone know a better way to do this, or have any tips / tricks for me?

Thanks

Ever think about making your own brushes? You can always expand a brush stroke along a straight line segment to get its vectored shape and then load that path as a ‘Pattern Brush’.

FYI, art brushes tend to stretch across an entire path (what you are experiencing) while patterned brushes repeat. Lots of information about brushes here: How to work with brushes in Illustrator
